Joan Lawrence Joins Yorkshire Voices Panel: A Mother’s Relentless Search for Answers

It is with great respect that we announce Joan Lawrence, mother of Claudia Lawrence, to the Yorkshire Voices panel at our conference, next February, at Wetherby Racecourse. Claudia disappeared in March 2009 after returning home from her shift as a chef at the University of York. Despite a full police investigation and a long inquiry, no trace of Claudia has ever been found. For the last 15 years, Joan has campaigned tirelessly for answers, determined to keep Claudia’s case in the public eye in the hope that someone with vital information will come forward.

Hosting this special panel will be respected journalist Christine Talbot, who has personally known Joan for many years. Christine has been a constant source of support for Joan, both professionally and personally, as she has covered Claudia’s story from the very beginning. Through countless interviews and news stories, Christine has followed Joan’s journey and has been a compassionate ally in Joan’s fight to keep Claudia’s case in the public spotlight. Their deep connection, makes Christine the perfect host to guide this important conversation. Together, they bring an emotional depth to the panel, as Christine has walked alongside Joan throughout her search for answers.

Joan’s advocacy goes far beyond searching for her daughter. She has become a powerful voice for the families of missing persons, highlighting the struggles they face and the emotional toll of living with uncertainty. Through media appearances, public appeals, and tireless campaigns, Joan continues to fight for justice for Claudia and others, reminding the world that these cases should never be forgotten. Her determination and resilience have provided hope to families facing similar heartbreak, ensuring their voices are heard.

Joan's strength and commitment to justice remain as steadfast today as they were 15 years ago, making her story an essential part of this important panel!
