Lizzie Jones MBE has not only captivated audiences across the UK with her powerful voice but has also become a source of hope and advocacy following the tragic death of her husband, Welsh International Rugby player Danny Jones. In May 2015, Danny collapsed during a rugby match due to an undiagnosed heart condition, leaving behind Lizzie and their infant twins, Bobby and Phoebe. This profound loss shaped Lizzie's journey, leading her to tirelessly campaign for heart screening and the installation of defibrillators in sports clubs to prevent similar tragedies.
Known as the ‘Sporting Soprano,’ Lizzie’s impact extends far beyond her music. She was named ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year’ by ITV's Lorraine Kelly show and continues to raise awareness about heart health through her charity work. In memory of Danny, Lizzie founded the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund, which has helped save countless lives, ensuring that no family has to endure the same heartbreak.
Her story is one of resilience and determination, blending her passion for music with her mission to make a lasting difference. As we look forward to welcoming Lizzie back as a regular supporter of the Yorkshire Ladies Links events, she is excited to share her voice and journey with you, continuing to honour Danny’s legacy. Lizzie's presence at this year’s Yorkshire Ladies Links Conference is highly anticipated, where she will be joining an extraordinary lineup of women as part of the Yorkshire Voices: Extraordinary Women Making a Difference Through Adversity and Advocacy panel.
