Yorkshire Voices Conference: Christa Ackroyd and Christine Talbot to Co-Host Powerful Speaker Sessions

Updated: Oct 8

The upcoming Yorkshire Voices Conference is set to be an unmissable event, featuring two of Yorkshire’s most respected TV presenters and journalists, Christa Ackroyd and Christine Talbot. With their decades of experience in journalism and broadcasting, these two exceptional women will co-host the conference's speaker sessions, bringing their unique insight, storytelling skills, and professionalism to the forefront.

An Audience with Lindsey Burrow: A Heartfelt Conversation Hosted by Christa Ackroyd

One of the most anticipated sessions at the conference is An Audience with Lindsey Burrow, hosted by the legendary Christa Ackroyd. Esteemed as a trailblazer in the media industry, Christa will lead a deeply emotional and intimate conversation with Lindsey Burrow, exploring her inspiring new book, Take Care. The book delves into Lindsey’s personal journey of strength, resilience, and love as she cares for her husband, Rob Burrow, a rugby league legend living with motor neurone disease (MND).

This session is particularly significant as it marks the first major book signing of Take Care. With her unmatched empathy and skill in handling sensitive topics, Christa will guide the conversation, revealing the courage and heart behind Lindsey’s story. Christa’s storied career, spanning over 40 years, has seen her become one of the most recognised faces in Yorkshire, notably as the first woman to run an independent radio station and the long-time anchor for BBC Look North and ITV Calendar.

Throughout her career, Christa has interviewed figures such as Henry Kissinger, multiple British prime ministers, US presidents, and members of the royal family. Yet, her true passion lies in telling the stories of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, a trait that will shine through in her conversation with Lindsey Burrow. Christa’s more recent television work, including Our Great Yorkshire Life and Serial Killer's Wives for Channel 5, continues to show her range and dedication to storytelling.

Yorkshire Voices: Extraordinary Women Making a Difference Through Adversity and Advocacy, Hosted by Christine Talbot

The conference will also feature the highly anticipated Yorkshire Voices panel, hosted by another of Yorkshire’s finest, Christine Talbot. With an illustrious career spanning nearly three decades, Christine has been a familiar and trusted presence in homes across the region as the face of ITV Calendar.

Her warmth, authority, and engaging storytelling have earned her numerous awards, and her ability to connect with both viewers and interviewees alike ensures that the Yorkshire Voices panel will be a memorable and moving event.

Christine will lead a panel of remarkable women, each of whom has made a significant impact through adversity and advocacy. These inspiring speakers include Lindsey Burrow, Lizzie Jones MBE, Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung (the Lord Mayor of Leeds), Joan Lawrence, and Claire Throssell MBE. Each speaker will share their personal journey, offering insight into the challenges faced by women today and celebrating the strength and resilience that helps them overcome those challenges.

Christine’s journey is marked by her pioneering spirit; she not only presented the much-loved magazine show Tonight, but also broke new ground on Wellbeing, one of the first health and lifestyle digital channels. Beyond her television work, Christine shares her insights as a regular columnist for Yorkshire Life magazine. She also devotes her time to hosting events and supporting a wide range of Yorkshire charities, proudly serving as a patron for many. Her dedication both on and off screen has made her a trusted and influential figure in the region.
