We are dedicating this charity lunch to the inspirational Dr Kate Granger MBE, Founder of the #Hellomynameis campaign and we are honoured to have Kate's husband Chris Pointon as our keynote speaker.
Kate was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer in 2011 at the age of 29. She captured the attention of the nation by writing about her experiences with the illness as an NHS patient. Kate launched her #hellomynameIs campaign to encourage medical workers to introduce themselves after her own experiences as a patient. She inspired others with her vibrant personality, determination and dreams to raise awareness of better patient care.
Kate achieved so much, she managed to raise over £250,000 for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal just before she passed away in July 2016 in St Gemma's Hospice, Leeds.
This charity lunch is in aid of St Gemmas Hospice. St Gemma's is a Leeds-based charity providing expert care and support for local people with life-threatening illnesses.
