Please give a warm welcome to Leeds Hospitals Charity, joining us as an exhibitor at the Yorkshire Voices Conference on 28th February 2025 at Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre.
For nearly ten years, Leeds Hospitals Charity has been the independent charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals, supporting patients, families, and NHS staff. Over a million patients are treated at the hospitals every year, facing life-changing diagnoses and navigating difficult treatment journeys. Those patients, and their families, deserve the very best hospital experience, from the start of life in maternity wards right through to end-of-life care.
NHS staff do a brilliant job caring for patients and their families, but with the help of Leeds Hospitals Charity, they can do so much more. Donations from supporters help fund projects that the NHS simply cannot afford, from life-saving new equipment to innovative research and improvements to the hospital environment.
Transformative Support
Thanks to donations, Leeds Hospitals Charity regularly funds:
Free wigs for cancer patients: When someone faces losing their hair during cancer treatment, it can be a worrying time. The charity removes financial concerns for patients by funding free wigs for every patient who needs them.
Comfort care packs for relatives: Visiting a loved one at the end of life can be incredibly difficult, especially when a hospital admission is unexpected. The charity provides comfort care packs for any relative staying by a patient’s bedside, including emergency toiletries.
Financial support grants: Since the COVID pandemic, many patients, volunteers, and NHS staff have experienced financial hardship. Leeds Hospitals Charity provides one-off grants of up to £500 to help pay for unexpected costs such as travel and medical equipment.
Trolley service at Leeds Children’s Hospital: Parents naturally want to stay by their child’s side when they are in hospital, but this can often mean skipping meals and struggling to take a break. The charity’s support trolley visits the paediatric wards to provide parents with snacks, drinks, and toiletries during their child’s stay.
Groundbreaking Projects
Since 2021, Leeds Hospitals Charity has been raising funds for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, a £6.8 million project to build a purpose-built centre for Motor Neurone Disease patients and their families at Seacroft Hospital. The Burrow family has been instrumental in supporting the appeal, bravely sharing their story on numerous occasions and inspiring a whole community of people to fundraise and share their own experiences.
At Leeds Children’s Hospital, the charity continues to support the youngest and most vulnerable patients. Throughout 2025, fundraising efforts will focus on supporting the play team so they can deliver a 7-day service for children across every ward. This will be a lifeline for thousands of children and their parents who spend much of their childhood in hospital.
Supporting the NHS
Leeds Hospitals Charity is a charity that champions, supports, and gives thanks to the NHS. By bringing together thousands of donors, they make a real difference for patients, families, and NHS staff. They do this by funding life-saving equipment, new treatments, research into rare diseases, and home comforts for hospitals. Together, they make hospitals amazing!
